Samarthguru Siddharth Aulia (born Virendra Kumar Singh, 23rd September 1942, Karma, Bihar) had a brilliant academic and professional career before beginning his spiritual mission.
He studied at the Netarhat Residential School, completed M.Sc., AISM, and Ph.D. from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, and later worked as a lecturer, researcher, and author in Geology. He also served as General Manager of Coal India Ltd. until 2002 and completed a Senior Executive Course at Manchester Business School, UK in 1991. His book Koyle Ki Gaveshna earned him the Indira Gandhi Award (1984).
Samarthguru’s spiritual search started early under the guidance of Janki Baba and later through Masters like Osho, Sufi Baba Shah Qalandar and Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
“The most beautiful place is inside you — your soul, your real self. Don’t you want to experience that?”
– Samarthguru Siddharth Aulia
In 1980, after receiving initiation from Osho (as Swami Anand Siddharth), his life took a new turn. He experienced Satori on 11th December 1988, founded the Indian Institute of Yoga and Management, received Omkar Diksha from Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s divine form on 13th January 1997, and attained Enlightenment on 5th March 1997 — now remembered as Samarthguru Dhara Day.
In 1980, he also met Sufi Baba Shah Qalandar of Giridih. Their deep bond led Baba to declare him as his successor, giving him the title and responsibility of ‘Aulia’ before leaving his body.
Through Samarthguru Dhara, he continues the Guru–Shishya Parampara (Master–Disciple Tradition), guiding seekers towards Enlightenment and beyond.
