Samarthguru Siddharth Aulia aka Virendra Kumar Singh was born on 23rd September, 1942 in Karma, Bihar. Before embarking on his spiritual journey, he had a remarkable academic and professional career. After completing his schooling at the prestigious Netarhat Residential School and earning an M.Sc., AISM, and Ph.D. from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, he worked as a lecturer and published several research papers and books on Geology. Later, he served as the General Manager at Coal India Ltd. until 2002. He also did senior Executive Course in Management at Manchester Business School, UK in 1991. He was awarded the Indira Gandhi Award in 1984 for his book, ‘Koyle Ki Gaveshna’.
Samarthguru’s spiritual quest began in his childhood and was further nurtured by Janki Baba, a revered saint who deeply influenced his early years. His search for deeper meaning in life led him to meet many renowned spiritual masters, such as Osho, Sufi Baba Shah Qalandar, and others, who guided him on his path to Enlightenment.

In 1980, after receiving the initiation from Osho (as Swami Anand Siddharth), Samarthguru’s life took a profound turn, marking the beginning of his transformation from Virendra to Siddharth. Samarthguru experienced Satori on 11th December, 1988 and founded Indian Institute of Yoga and Management. Guru Nanak Dev ji blessed Samarthguru with Omkar Diksha on 13th January, 1997 and he experienced Enlightenment on 5th March, 1997 which is known as ‘Samarthguru Dhara Day’.
Samarthguru came in contact with the great saint of India – Sufi Baba Shah Qalandar of Giridih in 1980 and a deep bond of love formed between them. Sufi Baba Shah Qalandar declared Samarthguru as his successor and bestowed him with the title and responsibilities of ‘Aulia’, a highly esteemed position in the Sufi world, before he left his body.
Samarthguru Dhara has been established by Samarthguru Siddharth Aulia who has been chosen by the Existence itself, to continue the Living Master and Disciple Tradition (or Guru-Shishya Parampara) as an Enlightened Master who is capable of enhancing the spiritual journeys of seekers by guiding them to Enlightenment and beyond Enlightenment.
